Kerrs of Lanarkshire (follow up) - Completed. Thank you all!

Firstly a huge big thanks to all who answered my previous post on information regarding my Grandfather David Kerr born 1921 in Glasgow, Lanarkshire, as a result my mother now has several new half brothers and sister, who I'm trying to arrange a first face to face meeting.

An inquiry of such, (if allowed), that relates to David Kerr's parents.  My suspicion was that Joseph Graham Kerr (David's brother) was named after one of their grandparents chose to be fruitful, as it turns out their parents are Thomas Kerr and Sarah Graham (no dates, but I'm guessing between 1880-1890), I've tried following the usual route of Ancestry, Scotspeople.gov.uk but without much success, any help would be appreciated,

Re the name Joseph Graham Kerr, could he have been named after his great grandfather on the Graham's side? Do you know who Sarah's parents were eg from marriage certificate?

Have you got David or Joseph's birth certs? There is a possible entry in Glasgow for example for Joseph in 1917. These have be ordered as they can't be viewed online due to the 100 yr privacy rule for images relating to births.

Like you cannot see a marriage for Thomas Kerr (tried variants like Carr etc) and Sarah Graham*. Parents may not have been Scottish or marriage may simply not have been in Scotland perhaps. This is where the birth certs for David and Joseph would help you.

Death certs are also another way to sometimes check for information. There is a possible death for Sarah Kerr/Graham (born c. 1879) but this is in 1964 in Lanarkshire, a couple of years off from what you can currently view online for death certs due to 50 yr privacy rule.

I ordered David Kerr (my maternal grandpa) born 1921 birth certificate on 27 February 2013, so I'm (im)patiently waiting for it to arrive, it could be a while as I live in United States, but as soon as I get it I will post details.

I did find a Joseph Graham, and a Sarah Graham living in Lanarkshire (as siblings), around the sametime, and found a Thomas Kerr as an apprentice Electrician, my grandpa David was an electrician for Scottish Television (according to my mom), so this may tie in.... (I use the word 'may' loosely).

It is always frustrating waiting for certs to arrive isn't. You get a little used to being able to view certificates instantly up to certain years (this is a good summary here of current cut-off and when certs have to be ordered www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/Content/Help/index.aspx?r=554&413 ).

Is this the possible 1901 census entry you mentioned seeing for Thomas Kerr -everyone born in Glasgow:

As no obvious marriage in Scotland, one to consider in Ireland:

Clones District, Monaghan in Dec qtr 1914, between a Sarah Graham and Thomas Kerr.

That would certainly be a big possibility, Scotsmum  The marriage year of 1914 would fit well with the 1920s births we are seeing too.

Had checked for marriages earlier in England & Wales via the index on www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl and nothing showed there.

Fingers crossed the birth cert will confirm details.
