Searching freebmd, and based upon the time of year, there is a Joseph HIBBS whose death is registered Manchester South in March Quarter 1925 but his age is given as 50.

The details i have for this Joseph is that he was born 1874 in Cockermouth, Cumberland, husband of Ann Hibbs nee Callindine. Henry was the son of Henry Hibbs and Mary Hibbs nee Knowles. Joseph siblings that i no about are Elizabeth Hibbs b 1870 and Henry Hibbs b 1875.

Perhaps this is a relative;

CML Penrith Christchurch bp6/4/1862 Joseph s/o Samuel/Mary HIBBS, hkr of Crudmire

I understand there are travelling HIBBS now living around Wigan.

This is the closest match I have for Mary KNOWLES in the region:

WML Long Marton bp29/4/1860 Mary Jane d/o Joseph/Eleanor KNOWLES, potter of Brampton

It looks as if Mary KNOWLES is the one baptised 21 April 1850 at Cockermouth All Saints d/o Richard and Ann although I have not yet seen the original.

She was allegedly born 1850 at Grasmere WML, according to the 1871BRE census, and a Mary KNOWLES also 'born Grasmere' was age 11 in 1861CML (Cockermouth). In the same place was Richard & Ann KNOWLES both born in the 1820s Yorkshire. I have not seen the original census yet.

The baptism is a single (no other children) and there are a couple of possible siblings bapt in YKS so the accumulated information suggests wanderers.

To do a parallel search I suggest looking for Sampson HIBBS which is a more distinct name. He was an older brother of Henry. Sampson is also the name of Henry's father as this marriage shows:

LAN Bolton le Moors St Peter m1/3/1869 Henry HIBBS (23) hkr (fa: Sampson - hkr) = Mary KNOWLES (19) (fa: Richard - hkr))
