Henry Joseph JONES, Sudbury, Nipissing, Ontario after 1911

Hi all,

I am looking for assistance in finding further records for the above gentleman.

Henry was born in 1861 (I'm not sure if in Canada or Ireland) His father was Robert Henry Jones and his mother was Sarah Cook(e).

He was married in October 1899 in Kingston Frontenac Ontario to Citney Patterson. In  marraige record Henry's occupation is listed as butcher.

From the 1911 census, they are listed in Sudbury Nipissing with 3 chrildren, Marjorie(B1900), Evelyn (B1906) and Robert (B1908). Also listed in the house at that time was a brother of Henry's, Charles Edward (B1865).

I have a death record for Charles at Nigara Falls, Ontario in 1937.

I am looking for detials of what happened to Henry and family after 1911. From anectodal family stories there may be links to Hatton & McKibbon families. There is also some sketchy stories of a church minister who may have gone by the name "Happy". Toronto is also listed as a possible destination for the family. I'm not sure if that is the whole family or just the children.

Hi there.

The marriage record for Henry and the 1901 and 1911 censuses all have Henry b. Ireland. The marriage record gives the location in Ireland but I can't quite make out the entire word. The 1901 and 1911 census images have an immigration year of 1888/1889. If you don't have access to the original census images through Ancestry, they are available for free at this  link .... click on 'split view' at the top to see the original image, which gives more info than the transcript.

Yes Ireland is likely. His father left Ireland in 1840's for Canada and returned some time in the 1860's. If born Ireland, I suspect the record states Wexford. It may also state Ballybrennan as this was the townsland in Wexford they settled in back in Ireland.

Any idea where I'd go searching for death records. There does not appear to be anything on familysearch.org.

The informant for Charles Edward Jones' death was his nephew Robert Jones of Queenstown, Ontario.

Marjorie Helen married Robert Reginald McKibbin, b. Que., living Riverdale Maryland, USA, occupation university professor.  Marjorie living as 373 Runnymede Road Toronto as was her witness E. E. Jones.  Marriage 21 Dec 1926 Toronto.

I would look at the Toronto Star - Pages of the Past for traces of your family.  Privacy laws prevail in Canada and deaths in Ontario aren't released past 1939 at the moment.  Up to 1938 are available online at ancestry.ca.  Because of privacy laws we rely on cemetery records and newspaper articles to trace forward.

The death record of Charles indicated his body was to be buried in Toronto which would indicate that there was a strong family presence there in 1937.

I believe, you need to look for the Disney Jones family from Ballybrennan House, Bree.
Not the Ballybrennan near Killinick in Forth. And yes Disney as in Disney land. Both Jones homes but as yet unrelated.

Evelyn Jones Hatton's obituary is here.. under McMullen (last name of one of her daughters).  Near the end of the page.  Her husband was Rev. Noble "Hap" Hatton.
