It's the back of the mount we need to see....any printing on it is a dating clue.

Didn't make myself clear - nothing at all on the back. Photo is pasted onto an equally thin grey paper then onto a sculpted lighter cardboard mount.

A plain grayish or white mount is an early Edwardian style as Jim has mentioned.

What's dad got wearing on his lapel? Rosette of some kind?

I don't think it's dad,more like eldest son.

I really like the little girl at the front holding hands with her mother and her eldest sister.  Very symmetrical staging, except that there was one girl too many in the family to make it quite fit!

Hi, this photo dates from around 1900. You have the lovely mix of the younger woman in a fashionable blouse of the time and the older woman wearing a more up to date skirt but slightly older style blouse. The young boys are wearing outfits common in the early part on the 1900s with a hang on to the styling of the late 1890s. The classic smock type dress of the young girl is very characteristic. Later in the decade young girls hair was more elaborately dressed with large bows.
