mystery family need help
« on: Saturday 16 February 13 19:47 GMT (UK) »
I have been tracing my family tree for a while now and doing alright accept for my grandfathers family. Before he died he wrote a letter with everything he knew. In it he said his parents where William Anderson and Jane Watson, Jane's parents where Gavin and Agnes Williams mother was Margaret he was born in Blantyre around 1884 and he was orphaned at a young age. so I found the marriage certificate. traced the Watson's no problem there. then I turned to the Anderson's. On the 1901 census I have William living in the right place doing the right job and is listed with mother Margaret. only his marriage certificate in 1909 lists his parents as William Anderson and Christina Anderson M.S. Stewart. I can find no record of a birth for William or a marriage for his parents. the only other information the letter contained was that the Andersons where descended from a lady Margaret Ingus who was disinherited for running of with the coachman and that somewhere way back in the past we have links to France through someone Named Ludovic. I am at my wits end with this any advice or help would be very much appreciated thanks
Karin

Looks like the 1883 William died in 1884 so that only leaves the 1885 birth to check

I checked that record a while back the fathers name is william but the mother is listed as a grace Maine. I followed that line to there marriage certificate and the paternal grandmother is named Margaret but she would be too old to fit with the Margaret in 1901 census.
