Parkers of Bedfield/Beddingfield Suffolk
« on: Friday 15 February 13 07:48 GMT (UK) »
hello
I am trying to find any information about the Parker family which lived in the Bedfield/Bedingfield area of Suffolk, born around the 1920s. I have a few names William 1922, Edward 1920, and Kathy 1925 who was married to a Robert (Bob) Jay, they may have had some connection with the Cracknells who lived at Monk Soham. Also where could I find any records of them.

Records - Look on FreeBMD  -

Choose Birth & (place) Hartismere - (surname) Parker - (mother's surname) Stearne  (date) 1915 - 1930.

You will find all children registered to these names.  But using the same information look at Marriages - there will be TWO  John Parker/Mary Stearne and Samuel C Parker/Hannah Stearne.

I believe the people you are looking for are children of John/Mary.

In the same way you will find Edward J Parker married to Primrose M Jay Dec qtr 1941 and Kathleen M E Parker married to Robert S Jay Jun qtr 1949. Both in the dist. of Hartismere.

Now look to see if there are children from these marriages - and so on - if not in Hartismere then look further afield.  After this there are telephone directories and electoral roles - Ancestry is good for this.

Hi
Thanks for info I have been doing a little research through both Freebmd and Ancestry and I believe Samuel C and Hannah are the parents I am looking for, as John and Mary may have been too young but I will recheck info and maybe obtain b/c for William E Parker and go from there.
Thank you

Hello
Have now obtained birth certificate for William Ernest Parker b.1922 Hartismere, he was first registered as Edward Ernest (4a - 1727) and again as William Ernest (4A - 1727a) amended after registration. Williams parents are, as you hinted, John Parker and Mary Stearne. Mary I have found as being born Worlingworth 1897 and marrying John Parker 1920 Hartismere district. John Parker (Farm Horseman) I cannot find any info for other than marriage 1920, I would guess he would be around the same age as Mary, but no luck as yet. Any ideas?
thanks

It is quite likely that the two marriages John Parker/Mary Stearne and Samuel C Parker/Hannah Stearne are brothers/sisters.

On the 1911 census there is a Parker family in Monk Soham, Framlington -

William John Parker 44 road lab. b. Bedingfield
Jane Parker 44 (mar.24 yrs. 8 ch. 2 died) b. Bedingfield
John Parker 22 farm lab. b. Monk Soham
Thomas Parker 19 farm lab. b. Monk Soham
Sarah Jane Parker 15 b. Monk Soham
Edward George Parker 11 b. Monk Soham
Samuel Charles Parker 6 b. Monk Soham

Next door there is a Mary Ann Parker 74 widow charwoman b. Ashfield cum Thorpe  Suffolk.

There is a death of a John Parker Sep. qtr 1952 Hartismere aged 66.  This could fit in well with the above census.
