Confusing relationships!
« on: Wednesday 13 February 13 23:07 GMT (UK) »
I've been working out the common xg grandparents between me and my 4th cousin.
It turns out that we share 2 sets of 3xg grandparents.
My 2xg grandfather George E married my 4th cousin's 2x g Aunt Charlotte H - then Charlotte's brother, Robert H (cousin's 2xg grandfather) married Elizabeth E, who was the sister of my 2xg grandfather. So that was a sister and brother, marrying another sister and brother.

I know anything is possible in family history, but I'm curious if anyone else shares 2 sets of ggg grandparents with distant cousins?  Is this unusual or not?

Not that unusual particularly in small towns & villages.Couples got together usually through introduction so siblings of the same family being introduced to the siblings of another would be quite normal, cousins of course would have known each other most of their lives.
Over generations assuming they stayed in the same place families marrying into the same families happened all the time.
We all have them.
