All,

Thank you very much for your assistance.

Yes i beleive thsat Sarah's record would read Rochestown and I believe that the Sheppard is the one I'm searching for. The birth date being the same along with the similarities with Enniscorthy makes the probability very high. Another source did not have a Sheppard in the family but did have an Albert. All too much of a concidence. Sheppard Albert.

Any ideas where to go finding death record for Sheppard and Sarah?

Regards

Glen

There are a number of Sarah Jones on the death index at www.italiangen.org, but I'm not sure if any of the options seem to really fit her age-wise.  I don't see a likely Sheppard either.  Unfortunately, there's a bit of a gap for online coverage between the death index on there, which goes to 1948, and the Social Security Death Index, which mainly covers from 1962 forward.

Using the dates of birth for the children (on page one), I don't see the males on the social security death index.  Is there a chance they relocated to where Sheppard's brothers were living?

What relation (if there was one) was Sheppard to Robert Disney Jones (1847-1940), please?  I see that R.D. Jones died in 1940.

(The write-up can be found in the second column from the right)

Just throwing out an idea, since we haven't yet found the family in America after 1940, but could Sheppard and his family have relocated after the death of R.D. Jones?  According to information on the internet, it appears Robert D. and his wife, Sarah Fanny, did not have any children.  Sarah Fanny apparently died in 1936.  Their possessions may have been distributed to family members.   ???

Hi Lisa.

Robert Disney Jones (Jnr) B1846 was the eldest brother of Sheppard. Indeed they did not have any children and from what has recently come to our attention, his estate was distributed to his siblings and a nephew.

I have been looking to get a copy of his will and the information you have given will assist me in that.

Given that Sheppard was 70 in 1940, I'm not sure that he'd have moved(total conjecture on my part)

Keep the theories comming.

Glen

I don't have access to the 1940 U.S. census (at the moment).  Has anyone found Sheppard's children in the U.S. in 1940?

There is a 1946 Manhattan telephone directory here:  http://www.evendon.net/PGHLookups/Manhattan1946M.htm  I didn't see Sheppard.  There were some Sarahs, but none seemed to be at the address they were at in 1940.

Guys,

Thanks for all your help. Unfortunately for the moment, the trails seems to have gone cold. You never know when some new information comes to light. If it does, I may come back here to gather further info.

Thanks again

Glen
