Burial of Benjamin Clegg, Batley Methodist Church 6/12/1858
« on: Monday 11 February 13 21:24 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I've found the above burial on the IGI, but it isn't available on Ancestry.  So, please, is it possible for anyone  to look at the original register to see if there is any more detail, especially Ben's age at death? I'd be very grateful for any help.

Thanks,

Chris

Hi,

Do you have any census details for him. Wife's name or even children, that way you should be able to locate him in the 1851 census and then it's just simple maths  :-\

Even possible names of parents or siblings will help here I think.

Hi Richard and Sunscreen,

Thank you very much for your replies - I am so grateful. Thanks to you, I now know that the Benj Clegg buried in Batley on 6th Dec 1858 was not the one I was after, as he was far too young, but it has been very helpful for elimination purposes.
(I'm trying to find the burial for a Benjamin Clegg baptised on 15th Dec 1771 in Dewsbury.  I think he married Sarah Cowling in Batley on 31/1/1791 and they went onto have children baptised in Batley; I cannot find them in censuses. I know it was a long shot, but I just wondered if the 1858 burial could have been him - but he would have been about 86). So, if anyone can help with the burial of the above Benj Clegg, please would you get in touch?

Thanks again for all the wonderful help,

Chris
