Hi Eilleen ... my error, I should have re-read postings re George Bint still being in Australia until 1898, a year prior to his death.

It is interesting to see that he was in 'Bank Cottages' until 1882 (year Letitia born) then there is a George Bint in Kensington, then Ardoch Street, Essendon (both these places suburbs of Melbourne, Australia)

So, if it is the same George Bint, were the McCraken and Ardoch Sts addresses also 'Bank Cottages' or did he leave the Bank, or is it another George Bint  ???

ERNEST HAYWOOD and LETITIA  Electoral Roll

1909- Address 44 Ardoch Streeet Essendon
HAYWARD
Ernest Charles W (sic) Traveller
Letitia HD

This as you see, was next door to GEORGE BINT's address in 1898.
Perhaps we can think that MARGARET was also at that address.

Hi there,

I have access to an 1897 Suburban streets Directory for Melbourne.

Would this help?

Ardoch Street West Side(North Ward of Essendon)  as per Sands 1897 includes
38, John C CHIVERS
40, George A RUDD
42, George BINT
44, Ernest C HAYWARD

So Ernest was next door to George in 1897 and they were both in Essendon, Victoria (Australia)

Cheers,  JM (NSW Centric, but trying to follow the thread anyway  :) and highlighted house nos 42 and 44 and occupants in a brown colour )

That will be interesting for Eilleen. Residing close to each other earlier than we previously knew.

One cannot be certain  they were "owned and purchased" properties, not rented, but I do note through research into the HAYWARD's, they clearly remained at the ARDOCH St. address for many years so possibly owned it.

From this end  in Australia I have not been able to locate it.
Records for shipping departures, though some exist, have not been recorded as closely as shipping arrivals.

Perhaps there is a source for arrivals at the UK end. ???

Others may have more advice for you.  Meantime by looking at the dates of residency on the Electoral Roll in Australia and his date of death in England, you will be able to narrow down the time of departure.

Certificates are always the most valuable component of a family tree and I'm sure GEORGE's will be a huge help to you.
For you interest some details about Australian certificates which are very comprehensive and in Victoria, not too dear :D

An uncertified image can be downloaded to your computer immediately upon payment of about  Aus. $20.00.  You will need the registration number which is often posted by the Rchat helper on the thread under discussion.

This link shows what you may see on all Victorian certificates.
