I just had a thought  ;D

I wonder if a will for George Bint can be found, it would make interesting reading if there is one.
I've checked the VIC archives online and couldnt find one.

Hi G ... good idea but if he died in England, maybe we should look there?  Also, I have just noticed that the death notice of Margaret Bint said, 'wife of George Bint' ... obviously their daughter Letitia would have put it into the newspaper so if M&G weren't married, she didn't know or was keeping up appearances  ???
The other thing is, with her father dying in England, someone must have told Letitia for her to put a death notice in the Melbourne paper  .... interesting.

Bingo ... Probate of George BINT, 73 Allen Rd. Northampton, pensioner, died 18 March 1899.
Probate Northampton 27 March to MARGARET BINT, widow.  Effects 84 pounds and 10 shillings

Gosh, what the heck did he do with his money? ... he was earning at fortune at the Melbourne Mint !!

Thanks Bonnie, so he left what little he had to Margaret.
It is interesting ..... why was he in England and Margaret here. Or was she in England with him when he died and then come back to Australia. Oh the unanswered questions!  :D

His not my ancestor yet i want to know what, if, how, when and the rest of it  ;D

I dont think they had to be legally married to him to leave his estate to her.

The daughters birth cert. would also be interesting.

Yes, agree that the daughter's birth certificate would be an interesting read, so too both her parents death certificates.

A wild thought is that George got into some sort of scandal, with the Mint, and hot footed it back to England ...  and it could be the reason why Margaret went up to Ballarat, (where she died), which seems a bit strange seeing that their married daughter was living in Melbourne.
