George BINT, Melbourne Mint.
« on: Monday 11 February 13 16:34 GMT (UK) »
I have George Bint born Shropshire ,England abt 1823.
He married had 3 children but in abt 1879 his job took him to Australia, I googled Melbourne Mint, and George is mentioned, it says,

A hydraulic metal press was designed and built in the workshops by George Bint during 1880-81.

I would love to know what happened to George , I have the history of the family He left behind , but not his story, hoping someone maybe able to put meat on his bones,

Some articles which mention his work at the mint
http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article5826905

Mr. George Bint, for many years foreman of the Derwent Foundry, has been sent
out to superintend the erection of the machinery, and he' has already commenced to
put up some of the heavier portions of it.

Designer of hydraulic machinery George Dint  ::)

Correction to say it should be George Bint not Dint

regards,
   Ros

adding : his salary was 235 pounds  :)    (at the bottom of page - reported in NZ !)

Did he return to England?   Or should we be looking for his death and perhaps another family?

regards,
   Ros
(I did look for a will on pro-vic but no ...)
