As I said in my linked article, I am not claiming that Rev. Peter Kincaid of Douglas is the same person as Rev. Peter Kidd of Carluke.  There is no question that it was Peter Kincaid at Douglas.  Whether he went on to Carluke is another matter.  Personally I don't believe that he did.  Someone just merged the two.

I should add that Kincaids were part of the Covenanter movement.  Thomas Kincaid was a surgeon in Alexander Leslie's Covenanter army and he was given command of two regiments prior to the Battle of Marston Moor in 1644.  Furthermore, in 1684, John Kincaid of Chalcharoch, Mochrum Parish was tried and transported for his Covenanter beliefs.
