Fanny/Frances Sheard One or two?
« on: Saturday 09 February 13 14:38 GMT (UK) »
Frances Sheard married John Northrop at Almondbury 16 Nov 1815.  The baptism at Kirkheaton of their eldest Mary child gives her name as Fanny but all the other children as Frances.  Normally this would not matter - but!!
There is the baptism of Fanny d of Josiah & Martha Sheard of Dalton at St John the Baptist, Kirkheaton on 17 Apr 1797.  Also the baptism of Frances d of Joshia & Martha Sheard of Bradley at St Peter, Huddersfield on 5 Aug 1798.
I encountered double entries for Holmfirth with the parishes of Almondbury & Kirkburton replicated in the Holy Trinity records, however I cannot believe that this is the case for Kirkheaton/Huddersfield.
Any suggestions or explanations gratefully received.

Sorry all.  I have just realised that I posed this question some weeks ago!
The most likely solution offered suggested was that Fanny died in infancy while the family lived in Dalton & the next child was named Frances but the family had moved to Bradley.
The only problem is that all the subsequent siblings were born in Dalton & bp in Kirkheaton - the sames as Fanny.  Also no burial of a Fanny or Frances can be found.
