Hi, is there anyone researching their family history of the following names: -

Bearn - Angus
Bowman - Dundee/Forfar
Smollet - Dundee
Stirling - Dundee/Forfar
Calder - Dundee

My ancestors came from Dundee-Calder migrated to Canada and US late 1890 and earlier

Hi, is there anyone researching their family history of the following names: -

Bowman - Dundee/Forfar
Smollet - Dundee

Calder - Dundee

My maiden name was Bearn and I have lots of information about the Bearn family from Brechin. My late father was Benjamin Smith Bearn born  03.30.a.m.15th June 1890 Viewbank Cottage, Park Road Brechin father James Bearn and Mother Annie Buchanan Bearn nee Walker .
I have been researching the bearn family name since 1976 and have got a direct line back to about 1725ish

Clark - Fife poss Dunfermline
Bowman-Forfar poss Dunfermline
Neave -Forfar/Montrose
Thomson - Banff/Aberdeenshire area

Craik- Forfar
Tulloch- Lanarkshire/ Stirlingshire,poss Orkney .....

The Calder you have mentioned emigrating to Canada , by any chance was he married to a Catherine Kirkaldie.

Anne, which Bowman line are you researching?

My father's family (quite a few of them actually) came from Kirriemuir to Adelaide in 1849.

Just looked at the dates on this thread and I think it might be up to us now to continue.  It's been a long time since the original post.

My Bowman line came from Kirriemuir and there are mentions of Cortachy and Clova as well.

Which Bowman line are you chasing?  My John Bowman was the son of John Bowman and Agnes Eaton and his first wife was Barbara Tosh, second wife Betty (or Betsy) Duncan.

Seems to me that it was not an uncommon name in Scotland, but I might be wrong.

Would love to hear from you if you think there are any chances of a connection.
