SWEDEN - Västervik & Göteborg deaths - LOOK UP, please
« on: Friday 08 February 13 08:16 GMT (UK) »
Would anyone be able to look up the following deaths in Sweden?  I have been trying to access these records online, but to no avail.

Västervik, Kalmar:
Margareta LINDGREN född LORENTZON - between 1818 and 1822.
Her husband, Carl Petter LINDGREN, who would also seem to have died between 1818 and 1822.

Göteborg:
Selma Constansia LINDGREN - died on 4th February, sometime in the 1860s.  Buried at Stampen Cemetery.

Very many thanks indeed.

Hi Josh P,

Carl Petter Lindgren died on Dec 5, 1821 and was buried on Dec 14 (Västervik death records 1805-1840, vol C:6, p735). The cause of death was "stenpassion" which is translated to kidney stone, though I suspect it was some other sort of kidney disease.

His wife, Margareta Lorentzon, died on Dec 12, 1809 and was buried on Dec 20 (Västervik death records 1805-1840, vol C:6, p662. The cause of death was "tärande sjukdom" which seems to be anything from consumption to cancer. She most likely just faded away and died eventually, but what the exact cause was, is uncertain.

Selma Constantia Lindgren died in Göteborg Gustavi (domkyrko) parish on Feb 2, 1862 and was buried on Feb 7 (Göteborg Gustavi death records, vol. F:2, no pagination [# 70 in the death records for 1862]). The cause of death was "Organiskt Hjertfel", organic heart disease.

Greetings,
/Lars

Hej Lars,

Tack så mycket för din hjälp.  Jag är väldigt glad!

These details have provided far more information than I could have imagined.

Our family Bible only records Carl Petter's birth in Vena and the fact he "lost all his savings in a fire in the church", so all this extra info is a great thrill for me.  I shall now follow your directions and try to navigate ArkivDigital to find out whether he and Margareta had more children, beyond the Hans Petter you have already sent me.

In addition, I inherited a book signed by Selma in January 1862 and now know she died exactly one month later, which gives it new meaning.

Många hälsningar och med tacksamhet,
J.
