Arran Co. Laois?

Hi Has anyone ever heard of a placename called Arran in County Laois. I found it on a birth certificate. Thanks

dont see any town or townland named Arran or similar - is this  a research cert ?

Maybe post a small section of the cert showing the place name so see if anyone can offer another interpretation. Details of the district, and sub-district and possibly timeframe would also also help narrow down the search...

HI - I have gone back to my sources and it now seems that this is not a place in County Laois. It is from a US death cert which lists a grandmothers birth country as ARRAN. That may be Arran, the Island but may also be second hand information. Sorry for that  and thanks for the reply

If the registration was done in the USA, and it was a phonetic interpretation, could it be Erin, an old term used for Ireland?

Another possibility is  Arles,  Co.  Laois.

There's Arran, an island in Scotland, and also the Aran islands which are a group of islands off the coast of Galway. The surname may help decide whether the place is more likely to be Scotland or Ireland.
