Can anyone recommend any good sites for identifying uniforms, insignia and medals?

I did have a good site for identifying medals, but I seem to have lost the link. I've just spent two hours on the web trying to find a site to help me identify a uniform with no success. Surely such a resource must be out there, or at least a book, one with good photos. I'm mainly interested in UK military.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Best on the web is Rootschat Armed Forces Board ;D ;D ;D

If you have photos you can always post on here. It's not often the experts are completely stumped (if there are clues in the photo of course)

There isn't a one-stop-shop website you can refer to - although there are various books and websites on a variety of subjects. Nothing which is comprehensive though which is where the combined knowledge of rootschatters come in.

For medals you could take a look at
the Medal Yearbook 2013 (guide to British Commonwealth medals) (Published by Medal News)
or British Campaign Medals 1914-2005 (Shire publishing)
