Seeking help with Swedish records
« on: Friday 01 February 13 23:31 GMT (UK) »
Hello Rootschatters,
I am seeking a fresh pair of eyes to help me with a Swedish record I have found. I have posted here rather than the deciphering board, but if the moderators see fit to move it, that's ok. I thought I might be more likely to find some help here.
I know we can't post images from ancestry, but I hope a link is ok.
http://search.ancestry.com.au/Browse/view.aspx?dbid=2225&path=V%C3%A4sternorrland.H%C3%A4ssj%C3%B6.D%C3%B6d+%28Deaths%29.1688+-+1786+%28C%3a1%29.149&sid=&gskw=
On the right hand side, there is a burial in October for I think a Jacob Larsson, but for once I can't make out the rest of the entry. To make matters worse, there is no age given.
Can anyone help me?

Cheers,
Darren

Hi, the link didn't work. If you give the actual reference to the parish register, you might find someone who can look it up and give you a transcription. Alternatively, if you have downloaded the page, you could post a clip of the bit you can't make out as this will only be a small exerpt and should be acceptable.

Hello Kaysii,
Thanks for the reply. I am not sure why the link didn't work for you.
I tried posting the image, but it said it was too large, and I am not sure how to crop the bit I want.
It is in the Swedish Church Records, Vasternorrland, Hassjo, deaths 1688-1786 C1, image 149. On the right hand side of the image the entry for October 10 is the one in question. I am fairly certain it names Jacob Larsson, but not sure if it is for him, or something else.
I can normally either read the entries, or at least make out what they say, but this one has me stumped.

Hi pinefamily,

I don't have Ancestry/Genline Swedish church records, only ArkivDigital, so I may be wrong but if you mean the note on page 119 for Oct, 10 1756, it says:

begrofs Jacob Larssons döfödda flickebarn i Krigsbyn (buried Jacob Larsson's stillborn girl from Krigsbyn)

Idllse,
Thank you so much for that. For once, I couldn't make out what it was.
Oh well, the search for his death goes on.

Idllse,
Thank you for putting me on to ArkivDigital. The images are much easier to read.
Already I have found Jacob Larsson's wife's death.

Hi pinefamily,

Oh yes, there is an enormous difference in quality between the images on ArkivDigital and SVAR or Ancestry/Genline. Some of them are completely illegible with the two latter, but with AD, you're able to read it with no problems at all.

Glad to have been able to help you!
