I'd be wary of that one, I looked at the image and I believe it says John G, rather than John J (plus there is a baptism on Family Search for a child with those parents names and he was baptised as John George)

Emmanne, do you have the marriage record (certificate or parish register copy) for your John J.? That would tell you his father's name which would make the search more accurate.
Do you have him in any census to give an idea of parents names or any siblings?

There is what appears to be a well researched tree on Ancestry, complete with photos.
That says that John Joseph Swales, born 13th May 1891 Jarrow, married Mary Agnes Moran in 1918?

That quotes film number 2046480, which I looked up in the catalogue and its for St Bede's Roman Catholic Church, Jarrow

His baptism was at St Bede's Jarrow, parents John SWALES and Joanna Swan SWALES

So it looks like we are (or should be?) following the 1888 John Joseph?
