On 22 February 1767 my 4 x great grandfather, Samuel Crowsley, was born in Kempston, Bedfordshire, son of Samuel and Mary (nee Burroway).  On the same day in 1820 he married for the second time, to Elizabeth Tompkins, following the death in 1819 of Catherine (nee Childs) my 4 x great grandmother.

Suzy W ,
I remember that well I returned home from New Zealand two months before
One of the ladies who sold me a glass angel for my Christmas tree was one of the first people we saw on our TV . I have a good bit of the Cathedral on film and of  the little children  putting presents under the tree and singing carols .There was a lot there that day

On 23 February 1883 my 2 x great grandmother, Catherine Ashwell, died in Bedford, aged 65.  She started her working life as a laundry maid at the Bedford County Lunatic Asylum and was there at the time of the 1841 census, but left when she married William Crowsley later that year.  I had some difficulty finding her on later censuses because she was also known sometimes as Kitty, and the name Crowsley had many variations.

On 24 February

In 1775 my 4 x great grandparents, James Thomason and Mary Rutt, were married at Blunham, Bedfordshire.

In 1930 my husband's great grandfather, James Hitch, was buried at St James Church, Enfield Highway, having died on 18 February, aged 73.  He had been a rifler at the Royal Small Arms Factory in Enfield until he retired.
