I like this idea and it seems to be popular.

Is it not possible to have "on this day" as a topic, with 366 threads?

Gosh, your grandfather bears an uncanny resemblance to my grandson! ;D

How would that work? When I started the first thread, I just named it On This Day and assumed it would just go on ad infinitum. But B.Bob said we should make it monthly so that's what we are doing. Seems to work quite well so far.

Jen :)

I'm busy most of tomorrow so this one is for 22nd Feb.     Mary Foyle born 1807, Witchampton, Dorset.   Her mother was Ann or Hannah Friggle or Triggle or Trygel !!    Various transcriptions give different spelling/mistranscriptions, so take your choice !

I don't know anything much about Mary, as she was the second Mary born to Ann(Hannah) and Joseph Foyle, so I assume the first Mary died, but cannot (yet) find deaths for either of them.

These Foyles are my task for 2013, but so far I've hardly started  :(

I was thinking that there would be thread for each day of the year, and events would then be added to the relevant date, but if every body else is happy with the way it is I have no axe to grind. I suppose the same thing could be achieved by having a separate thread for each day in "The Lighter Side".

PS thank you for starting it.

I think that a new thread for each day would be a bit complicated. It would need someone to remember to start it!

What I'm not sure of is what will happen when we get round to November, which is when I started the first one. Will we all just re-post the same anniversaries or will there be enough new people joining in to keep it fresh?

I think if you did that you would end up with a lot of short threads as some days only one or two things are posted. I like the idea of it being monthly, it was a great idea, Jen.

Seth Hobson my g.uncle was born in Manchester, Lancashire in 1883.  He was the nephew of Jane below.

Jane Hobson my g.g.aunt was born in Ingbirchworth, Yorkshire in 1842.  She was the eldest and only female sibling of my g.grandfather who was the father of Seth above.

Alexander Baxter my 6 x g.g.uncle was born in Heckington, Lincolnshire in 1709/10

Richard Whitaker my husband’s 2 x g.grandfather was baptised at Tiviot Dale Wesleyan Methodist Church, Heaton Norris, Cheshire in 1812

Elizabeth Everitt my 5 x g.g.aunt was baptised in Osbournby, Lincolnshire in 1709/10

John Day my 3 x g.grandfather died in Penny Hill, Holbeach, Lincolnshire in 1874.  He was 81 and died of Bronchitis and old age.  He was a journeyman brewer but later in life became a brewer’s labourer.

Anthony Collett my 3 x g.g.uncle was buried in Suffolk in 1775

Robert Robinson Gilchrist my 1st cousin 4 times removed was buried in Boston, Lincolnshire in 1899.

I find this a good exercise as I come across people for whom I have research outstanding and I've bought a few more certificates since this thread started last November.
