I forgotten one for the 18th February !    Maude Stubbs .... born 1876.    She was the youngest sister of my great aunt Lizzies husband George Stubbs.  (G A Lizzie is the one who ran away to Canada !)

We think this is Maude (with the big hat) sitting in the cart with her blind father William Stubbs.

It was a picture I found it Canada when visiting descendents of George Stubbs; and a lovely Rootschatter restored it for me.   I set about finding the house (via census etc).   Took one of the Canadian descendents with me; the houses in that row have been demolished, but the pavement is still there and the cobbles, and by enlarging the photo and the cobbles, we were able to work out exactly where the house had been from the pattern of the cobbles !!

Here is William Stubbs with his great grand-daughter Dorothy (b. 1942) added to the 1898 photo by another clever Rootschatter !   Dorothy died about four years ago ....

Nice pic Lydart.

On February 20th 1820 my 3xG grandparents Robert Tweedie and Agnes Weir married in West Calder, Midlothian. I have Robert back to his great grandparents in the 1600's but Agnes is proving a tougher nut to crack. I know she was known as Nancy and that she was born in Carnwarth, Lanarkshire in 1790 and had at least two siblings, both girls, one named Marion and another I have no name for at present. When she died in 1864 she had been widowed for 9 years and two of her children pre-deceased her. Her parents were James Weir and Grizzel Gardner. On her death certificate the name of her mother Grizzel has morphed to the Scottish/Anglisized version of Grace, a name that passed down to my mother's sister, my aunt Grace. James and Grizzel are where I am stumped at present and may possibly remain so. Agnes and Robert's youngest son John was my great great grandfather.

William Benson my g.g.uncle was baptised in Dalton in Furness, Lancashire in 1859.  We’ll meet him again in May when he died.

Thomas Harper my husband’s 4 x g.grandfather was baptised at St Nicholas’ Church, Liverpool, Lancashire in 1769

Winifride Francke died 1587/88.  She was the twin sister of Elizabeth Francke who died on yesterday’s date.  Winifride was about 7 days old.

Eliza Stanton my 2 x g.g.aunt was buried at St Mary’s Church, Pinchbeck, Lincolnshire.  She was 13.

Lydart - I suppose an Apopleptic fit could have been a severe epileptic fit, but most websites of old diseases etc. seem to imply it was some kind of paralysis caused by a stroke.

By the way, which street in Harpurhey did you decide your photo of the Stubbs was taken?

Lizzie
