Royal Flying Corps service records

I have recently found that that my grandfather was in the RFC and am looking to trace his service records.
I suspect that he transferred over to the RAF as his name is on the list of first personel. I know that the service records are in "Air 79" in Kew. But you have to go their in person.

Is there anywhere else that these records are? Are they online at all?
