EDGAR clan 1851 lookups please
« on: Saturday 04 June 05 14:35 BST (UK) »
Hello,

Have made a bit of a breakthrough thanks to some great lookups by fellow Rootschatters with my Edgar family, so would appreciate an 1851 lookup for the following please.  Bit of a shoe fetish in this family  ;D

Families as in 1861 with '61 addresses ....

James Edgar 40 Shoemaker, b. St Luke
Elizabeth 36, b. ditto
Address: 52 Orange Street, Bethnal Green (2 East St, B.G. in 1871)

John Edgar 39 Shoemaker, b. St Luke
Jane 31, b. ditto
Address: 108 Green St, Bethnal Green

William C Edgar 33 Shoemaker, b. Holborn
Louisa 32, b. St Luke
Address: 1 Type Street, Bethnal Green

Alexander Edgar 36 Shoemaker, b. St Luke
Selina 36, b. ditto
Address: 58 Great Wild Street, St Giles

Thomas Edgar 30 Shoemaker b. Aldersgate
Elizabeth 28 b. St Luke
Address: 17 Type Street, Bethnal Green

William Edgar 42 Bootmaker b. St Luke
Sarah 38 b. Surrey
Address: 3 Bridgewater Place, St Botolph, Aldersgate

These are all brothers, and possibly the younger member(s) may be living with their parents John Edgar b. 1795 and Mary b. 1796 in 1851.

Appreciate full census details please.  Sorry it's a long list  :-X

Thanks  :)

Funny these Edgars.  I think we've done them for someone else.

I only have indexes of 1851 bethnal Green and Whitechapel with forenames.

This could be one of yours.
Thomas aged 30 born St lukes
Elizabeth 27 born Holborn
HO 107/1540 folio 142

There is also a John aged 28 and Jane 21
HO 107/1540 folio 177

Do you like Maria Eger aged 59 born Mile End
HO 107/1542 folio 182

In Whitechapel which does not give place of birth
Have a John Edger aged 35
with H(f) 35
B(f) 8
HO 107/1545 folio 432

William 38
Hannah 35
HO 107/1546 folio 437

and an Edger family all initials except Joseph aged 57
HO 107/1546 folio 173

Edgar in St George in the East surname only index HO 107/1548 folio 245

This usually helps the people with the full census.  Is Kennyb about?

Good luck

Hi Sylviaann,

That's brilliant - thank you.

Yes it may have been me. I have posted on the Edgar parents to the boys before.  I had found them in '61 and asked for a '51 lookup in St Luke, but they were not at the old address  :(

Cheers  :)

Think this is them all :

St Giles Great Guild Street in 1851  - only found a Great Guildford Street and not there

3 Bridgewater Place 1851 - not there

1548/245  27 Dean Street, St George in the East
------------
VILLIERS  Robert       Head  M  32  School Master  born St Pancras
VILLIERS  Margaret   Wife    M  22                         born Wapping

SPICER Mary Aunt  U  60  born St Martins

EDGAR Mary A  Serv  U  15  born Wapping

//

Could not see any Edgar's at 1545/432

Hi Reyz

Thanks for all those lookups much appreciated.  Thomas and Elizabeth are definitely mine, but I'll have to sit down and try to figure out who is who  :)
