Thankyou for the help, Fairly certain it is Cunison. Aaron was born in 1729 and there is a Marriage Bond & allegation in Essex 1736 for a Sarah Potiphar to a Francis Cunison...It states on the recored Sarah is a Widow so it seems Aaron's father died soon after he was born. Unfortunately that doesn't give me her maiden name or help too much in finding the name of Aaron's father which has been elusive for a while now. Given Cunison isn't an overly common surname i dare say there will be variations on it's spelling on records which i will look into.

I shall keep digging.

Cheers

So you need a marriage of a Sarah to a Mr Potipher pre1726 - let's hope it is in a parish where the records from that era have survived!

What parish was Aaron christened in? And were there other siblings (Esp older?) Was his father not named on the christening record? That is unusual. Except in cases of illegitimacy I have often seen in older records just the father named, but not just the mother.
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

Yes trying to find a Sarah married to a Mr Potipher/Potiphar in the early 1700's. I am yet to find a Christening record for Aaron, the only way i know he was born around 1729 is that on the 1759 Marriage Bonds & Allegations record to Elizabeth Cleeve it states he is 30 years of age.

His Will says he was from Barking, Essex, he was married in St Catherine, Coleman Church which i believe now to be called 'All Hallows Coleman Church' in nearby Aldgate...

There were a few burials i found through searching for a couple of Potipher's who were buried in Barking, Essex around the later part of the 1700's which could be his brothers but i cannot seem to find Christening records for them either.

A slight conundrum i guess...

Hi,

Could it be Ennison?  To me, it looks like there's a stroke at the top of the capital letter, perhaps it's a curly E?  Are there any other capital Es on the will you can compare it with?

Mrs. T.

That's what I thought and I hadn't seen your response.

There is a capital E not far below the line in question (see the bigger clip) and it doesn't match - the first letter of the surname is written as a small "e" I think...yes, I'm changing my mind  ;) ;D

Added: however, as the OP has found a marriage of a Sarah POTIPHER to a CUNISON, around the right time period, it could be a C after all  :-\

The probate details mentioned assets in the Netherlands I believe. Has your
searching included that country?

Agree with PrueM that there is no match with 'E'. Will attach a sample 'C'
from the original post which is nicely written.

Where exactly do you in the Will do you see it mentions the Netherlands? I wouldn't have a clue on researching genealogical information in the Netherlands and what avenues are available.

Perhaps my memory is faulty, the original image has been cropped, but I remember something about a notary public resident at The Hague, which referred to assets. I didn't pay much attention as it didn't relate to your query. Did I misunderstand - perhaps it related to the next document?
