Help with surname from Will - Aaron Potipher
« on: Tuesday 29 January 13 15:06 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

Was wondering if some of the experts could help me with deciphering the surname of Aaron Potipher's mother's Surname from his will. First name seems to be Sarah... surname not so sure of. Will is from around 1795 from Barking, Essex region.

Any help would be muchly appreciated, i've attached a cut version of the text + full Will (Top section of Will over too the right.

Cheers

Hi,

I would say that it's either Cunison or Cullison as the letter after the i is definately an s.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards

Hi,

Could it be Ennison?  To me, it looks like there's a stroke at the top of the capital letter, perhaps it's a curly E?  Are there any other capital Es on the will you can compare it with?

Looking at the whole will, I think it begins with a C and my vote is for Cunison.  Is there such a name?

Best I can make out is Cunison, which appears to be a Scottish surname...
