Witness Signature for 1788 Marriage
« on: Monday 28 January 13 04:14 GMT (UK) »
Could someone decipher these 2 witness signatures from a 1788 Marriage please? See how close you get to my guess?

Thanks

Could the first name perhaps be Hammall?  I agree with his first name being William, and the other being Rich[ar]d Vining.

Thanks to ALL for your responses.

I thought "Wm (William) Hammett" and "Rich (Richard) Vining", though Pru's thought of "Hammell" could be correct too as I'm not quite sure what the bit is in between the 2 signatures is? Is it part of the 2 signatures or a scribble?

I'm just trying to confirm the marriage is the one I'm after by trying to link the witnesses names to the bride or groom. No luck so far.

I think the scribble is probably either an extra extravagance by Mr Hammall/Hammatt, or the monogram of someone else.  Very swirly!
