Emily Elizabeth Wicks

A person by the name of Emily Elizabeth Wicks married Thomas William Sharp 28 Dec 1901.   The only known and confirmed data about her.    On the marriage certificate it indicates she was 28 and her father was Henry and her father was deceased.   No occupation listed only the word deceased.
Her husband died 3 Jun 1909 and she died 28 Sep 1911 both in the St. Giles district of London.
Researched data:  1901-28 her age at marriage makes her birth year likely to be 1873 or possibly 1872.   1911 census is the only census after her marriage and before her death.    She is the victualler at the George Pub at 9 Great Queen Street London.   Indicated on the 1911 census is she was born in Essex.    Searches for a birth of Emily Elizabeth Wicks 1972-1973 to a father named Henry in Essex came up zero, however seven possibles were found in or near London.   All have been researched but nothing has been found to say which one may be the wife of Thomas William Sharp.    To make matters more complicated is internet family trees.    Thomas William Sharp has been attached as the husband to four different Emily's and only one tree owner replied back.   After hundreds of hours of research it appears that the only solution is to find someone who has letters or a family bible or real family knowledge which Emily Elizabeth Wicks was the one who married Thomas William Sharp.

The family you named is one I consider as a strong contender but no family has been totally discounted.

The will has the Executrix as Ellen Sharpe of Enfield.   Research has shown she was married to a Henry Sharpe who died in 1912.   We do not know if or how they are related.   See my other posting titled Sharps at the George Pub, 9 Great Queen Street, London.    We have a granddaughter of Thomas and Emily who is in her eighties and would really like to know about her grandmother Emily Elizabeth Wicks.

The fact that the executor was a Sharpe doesn't rule out that Emily Elizabeth named members of her own family in her will as well as her husband's family.

In a way I'm glad of all the posts since it saves me typing it all out - I agree completely that this Emily looks the most likely contender.    Looks like her parents were Henry Wicks and a Hannah Webb married 1856 Hatfield.   A son George bc.1856 but no more children until Emily E. (not that survived anyway).

I can see no blood relationship between Henry Sharpe bc.1865 Chichester, Sussex, his wife Ellen (per his will her name was Ellen Sarah and would indicate she was Ellen Sarah Keene who married Henry Sharpe 1896 Kensington), Thomas William Sharp and his wife Emily Elizabeth Wicks.   Think the Sharp/Sharpe connection is probably just a coincidence.

Thank you.    The will also named Ellen as the guardian of the surviving son of Thomas and Emily.    In addition  Thomas had an adult son from his first marriage living in London.   Why was he not named the guardian of his brother?    Possibly the suggestion made that Henry or Ellen was related to Emily may prove to be right although we have not found that connection.   If Henry and Ellen were not related why else would Ellen be named the guardian?   Thomas and Emily's son would never talk about his childhood when asked except to say he was sent to work on a farm as a child which he hated.    Both Thomas and Emily had died before the son was six.   Therefore we do not know what took place after his parents deaths.     We do not know anything else between childhood and adulthood.    The only things we know details about is after he was an adult and was married with children.    We wish we had the 1921 census to know where he was.    He was still a teenager in 1921.    Still too many unknowns.
