Link to one of several newspaper In Memoria for MARY JANE MARTIN.
They are placed by her "four youngest sons" who are identified by initials only.

Apart from R A I cannot completely match the initials to the list of sons you have given
Can you?

Many thanks to all for the wonderful information you have given me.

Yes , Rosse was a sister to Richard Albert, apparently she died the same year as born.

Hello Sue,

The entry you have found for Richard Albert's death giving his age as 77 years in 1943 would make him born circa 1866 not 1878.   Is it possible there is more that one Richard Albert.   I gained the information about Richard Albert from the Tasmanian Archive website so can not guarantee the correctness of this detail.  Will have to investigate further.

Hello again to Sue,

That article provides some more questions, apart from the initials for Richard, none of the others match the other sons I have for Mary Jane.   The fact that the wording has the four youngest sons you would think means that she had more than four sons, and possibly the other initials are additional children for Mary we didnt know about.  Also the fact that Richard is listed amongst the youngest sons would lean to his being born 1878 rather than 1866.   Very curious indeed.

I think two of the names in the notice are for John Miller MARTIN (stamp maker) and Joseph Samuel Fuller MARTIN (patternmaker).

John's obit:

A mention of Joseph:

A sister, Ada Rebecca Mary MARTIN:

http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/38193707

WHEELTON-On the 3rd July, at the Launceston General Hospital, Ada Rebecca Mary, dearly beloved wife of  Jno. Wheelton, second eldest and only daughter of the late Jas. Martin, Book binder, Launceston, aged 38 years.

I think that should say "second eldest and only surviving daughter of the late Jas. Martin", otherwise it doesn't make sense.

katlady, where did you get your info about the names of James and Mary's children?

Debra  :)

Joseph born c1877
http://www.launceston.tas.gov.au/lcc/?c=30&burial_record=40780

From his obit and burial, John was born c1859 which I am sure throws the whole family tree into disarray if it is true.

Mary Jane would have been 12 years old, so not likely to be a true age for John.
