Wrestlingworth - Bird / Carver
« on: Saturday 26 January 13 18:12 GMT (UK) »
This is the first time I have used this forum so please forgive me if I make any mistakes.
I am trying to find out if there is any link between the Bird and Carver families in Wrestlingworth, Bedfordshire and my Bird family line from Derbyshire. My Grandfather was Frederick Thomas Bird born on the 18 Jul 1873 in Condor, Derbyshire. His line goes back to John Bird born abt. 1820 in Ticknell, Derbyshire. Frederick Thomas Bird married Florence Annie Carver born 29 Nov 1875  in Leighton Buzzard. I have traced her family back to the Carvers from Wrestlingworth. I have read janan's Carver Ramblings on this site with great interest and noted that there was a great deal of intermarrying between the Birds and Carvers in Wrestlingworth, but so far I have been unable to establish any evidence that any of the the Birds in Wrestlingworth moved to Derbyshire.  Can  anyone help please?

Hi Scott

Welcome to Rootschat :D

I can't answer your query but would be interested to know if there is a connection. Is Florence descended from a Bird/Carver pairing? Just worked that out  - if I've done so correctly she is daughter of Thomas Carver and Lydia nee Bird? They were cousins, Thomas was son of George Carver and Mary nee Bird, Lydia daughter of John Bird, Mary's brother, and Elizabeth.

Hi Jan,
Thanks for your reply. I believe my grandmother, Florence Annie Carver was the daughter of David Carver b.1845 in Wrestlingworth and Annie Scott b. 1838; and David Carver was the son of Jesse Carver b. 1812 also from Wrestlingworth. I can't relate any of the Birds in my family line from Derbyshire with and Birds from Wrestlingworth.  There may not be a connection but it seems strange given that lots of Carvers and Birds from Wrestlingworth married. ???

Sorry when I said I thought Florence was daughter of Thomas and Lydia I meant Granddaughter - but that isn't so, they did have a son David born c1842, but I obviously got the wrong David. So your David is son of Jesse and Charlotte? Jesse is son of John and Martha (nee Mitchel) born just before their marriage in Eyworth 28 Mar 1812 but not baptised till 1834?

Back to your Birds, I've done a little digging but can't see any connection at the moment - doesn't mean there isn't one of course.
