Response from Bentham1 was sent as a report to moderator rather than a reply.

No we are stuck at his marriage in London as the earliest document we have.

And another one sent via R2M.  You need to go down below the advert and click on the Reply button.  Your post will then show in the thread.

Thanks, our John Bentham married in London without witnesses which we can use to help go back.  Ann Apthorpe Bentham and our John B. moved to Stamford, Lincoln after marriage.  WE cannt find any any baptisms either place.

Thank you, Our John B. married to Ann Apthorpe Bentham (1776- St. Bride, Fleet Str) moved to  Stamford, Lincoln first reported living in Lincoln is 1784, both were burried in Stamford.  John B. is listed as running or owning the George & Angel and then the Crown Inn, he also is reported in the horse Racing Calander (1784-1786) as owning two different race horses. We have looked through records at St. Bride's for Apthorpe's and Bentham's and also in Stamford for baptisms to no avail. We have looked through our England and have had not luck yet.  We know our John B. marrying at St. Bride's is the same as the one living in Stamford due to naming of children.  John's reported age at marriage was 22.  His death certificate would have put his birth at 1750.  We believe that the marriage age was probably correct as someone else would have reported his age at death.
