Hi Jm
My posting had been moved but not by I.The family so far down the track so haven't bought or sighted a certificate.Only been notified it could be Hans Hansen Peterson.
Have found a relative of this branch and if no records come forward or even if they do will contact them for answers if possible.

Cheers

Yes, it does, Many thanks,

Perhaps Velcro is more interested in expanding rather than accurately enriching his/her family tree chart.

I can see that WA BDM has a dc for a Charles PETERSON, aged 37, registered 1877.  The index has “unknown” for father, mother and place of birth.   Parents names and place of birth  were NOT required to be noted until about 1896 on WA death  certs, BUT WA marriage certs recorded father’s names and occupations even back in 1868.

Sometimes it is simply not possible to validate information WITHOUT obtaining the relevant BDM certificate.  Velcro, you note that this family are “so far down the track so haven’t bought or sighted a certificate” so I guess I can understand why you have had so few responses on this thread.    I am concerned,  Velcro, that you are expecting fellow RChatters to spend our own time looking for you when you have not done your own homework to confirm/validate you are looking for your own forebears by obtaining official records for your family.

Thank you for Trove site. Hope there was no sarcasm out there. If that is what you want to believe! I have done my research but stuck on a few records as you do. Not expecting anything but thought this site was for those who volunteer  to assist others and vise versa. A free help site!

Velcro, I don't do sarcasm, and I try to help whenever I can.   I do try to obtain official records for my lines, either by swapping certificates (or transcriptions) with others researching same lines, or by spending my own pennies on certificates that I cannot find are already held by other descendants on my lines.   I have been involved in researching my lines for decades and decades, and so in my view the value of a wisely chosen purchase of a certificate will often help  my own searchings.   Sometimes I have purchased a certificate in anticipation of eliminating a 'suspect' from a search.   I am sometimes far more interested in who provided the info on a cert than the actual info on the cert.    I usually try to find transcriptions of certs, and for many years, when family history was not the popular hobby it is at the moment, I would be found transcribing 19th century handwriting from various parish registers in rural NSW.

I continue to wish you well in your searchings, and assure you that as far as I am concerned RChat is about helping each other.   I am aware that I have contributed to many of your threads on various boards.   I had hoped that you were benefiting from my contributions.

Cheers,  JM
