After reading the link provided by Sandra, this is what I wondered:

It sounds interesting ...

but is there anything that isn't on Familysearch already?
or are these the actual records, not just the indexes?

eadaoin

Sometimes they promise the world, and it seems like they are offering a lot, but there's nothing much new or of real value. Eg. census - there are only two of them and they are already free for everyone.  :-\ It will be interesting to see, and of course you can't really complain about anything that is free. :)

As I suspected   >:(

Registered, got 50 free credits (not quite the 'free all day' that was advertised) and did a search for my great-grandmother's surname and the county. I've done extensive research on the name and sat for days in Dublin years ago copying each entry (in all of Ireland) in BMD registers, so...

7 results for BMD- 2 births, 2 marriages, 1 death, 1 will index entry (1839), 1 Tipperary Clan Archive (no idea what this would be).

Now, I know the name is fairly uncommon in that county but it isn't rare and I have pages of births, deaths and marriages for them in that county alone.

To compare, LDS civil registration index lists 88 births (first 2 in list are the ones at FindMyPast), 46 marriages, 83 deaths.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

I found a lot of mentions ( I mean a lot - 60 or 70 images found so far) in the court of petty sessions records for one of my relatives . Mostly for being drunk on the street in Bundoran or on the road home to Magheracar, but not entirely. Very interesting - a goldmine of information.

Agreed that this is a BIG letdown, completely not what was advertised.

50 credits does not go very far when you need to look at many records to find the right one.
I am out of credits already and will not be buying any more.

Um ....  found nothing ..... spent ages watching that timer going round ... and round .... and round whenever I refine my search - even selecting or deselecting one of the search terms sends the thing into a spin. Not terribly user friendly. Very slow. No obvious BMDs for any of my family. Nothing to convince me to take out a subscription. I still have 50 credits.  :(

I might try again later ......  :-\
