Okay...the design on the back is from Spicer Bros in London, actually an 1884 design but apparently used mainly from 1888 to 1892. Hope this helps a bit

Yes thanks very much. I have three men born 1861, 64 and 65 other than their births I have no other record of them- maybe he is one of them. I will try the names on Findmy past as advised on the armed forces thread maybe I'll get lucky!
