Gladys Taylor 1902-1982 married PARR
« on: Sunday 20 January 13 23:25 GMT (UK) »
I'm researching a friend's Parr family history and have got stuck on one line, his paternal grandmother Gladys Taylor, who married a Parr. I'm told Glady's mother was called Bertha but have no surname for her. I have been unable to locate a likely entry in the 1911 census returns. I understand the family lived in or near Birmingham.

If anyone comes across Gladys or her mother, I'd be very grateful for a heads up.

Many thanks.  :)

Hi Mrs Lizzy,

There is a Gladys Taylor on 1911 Census age 8 born Smethwick & living in the sub district of Ladywood, registration district of Birmingham. This is on familysearch, unfortunately no ref no's are given.

There are also a couple of Bertha Taylors living in the same area (ie Ladywood, Birmingham.) Bertha Helene age 24 & Bertha age 26, both born in Birmingham.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards

David

Hi

Where was Gladys born - although the family may have lived in B'ham - she may not have been born there

Which Parr did she marry & when?

Did she have any other christian names?

Do you have a copy of the Taylor/Parr marriage cert showing her fathers name

There is only one Taylor/Parr marriage on freebmd between 1920-1930 and that was in 1923

Gladys B Dixon or Taylor to Herbert H Parr.  The presence of 2 surnames indicates a previous marriage.  However - if she was only born in 1902 it seems a bit soon for her to have been married/widowed/remarried

Hi Mrs Lizzy,

Here's a possible marriage for Bertha, from freebmd.

Bertha Buckler to William Taylor, Sept Qtr 1900, Birmingham, 6d 215.

This appears to be the only one in Birmingham at this time. Only a possible though & as CaroleW has pointed out, Gladys's marriage cert is what's needed.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards

David

Thank you, everyone. Gladys was married to Herbert Parr. I have no copies of any certificates. I am doing this research for my friend partly as a favour and partly out of interest, having done so much on my own tree over the years. It is nice to do something different for a change. I have asked him to ask his extended family for copies of any certificates they may have.  I have put the tree on my Ancestry account if anyone wants to have a look. I will try to get some more information and put it on here. Many thanks again for your helpful replies.

Hi

Do you know what Herberts second name was as he was Herbert H Parr on marriage entry?

When did he die?

Did Gladys perhaps re-marry after his death
