Thringstone burials
« on: Sunday 20 January 13 19:32 GMT (UK) »
Does anyone have access to early burial records for Thringstone ? I am looking for the burial of a John Elverson / Elvaston which should be 19 August 1681 or any other information which anyone has for him would be really welcome.

Thanks

Greeting’s ………..

I’m not sure what information you were hoping to find within the Parish Records for this burial....

But seeing the early date and in my experience of reading early records it will be just a one line.  e.g. :~
Name of deceased buried this day …….followed by the date. And that’s all.

Also we have another problem, it appears that Thringstone burials of that time
were conducted at St: John’s Whitwick.
And unfortunately we have large gaps within the records due to the bad record keeping and floods & Fire damage. ….even BT’s did not survive.

Sorry to disappoint you this time.

MIKE. ……

I have transcribed Whitwick and the records in the early years are dodgy.  I do have a John Buri 28 April 1681 and an Ann bur 26 April 1681.  In total I have 60 Elveston and variant spellings in Whitwick.

Cheers
J
