1901 census - Holmes in Hull
« on: Friday 03 June 05 23:38 BST (UK) »
Please please please could someone find this family on the 1901 census

Thomas Henry Holmes born 1868 in Hull, East Yorkshire, his wife Florence Annie, born 1879 in Grimsby and a son George born 1896 in Hull, there may be other unknown children. I think George is the son of Thomas' first wife.

I've now found Florence with an unmarried sister Mary Woolsey and her mother Sophia Mas (no idea where that surname came from) living in Hull but still haven't found Thomas and George.

Many thanks to anybody who tries to help.

There is a Thomas Holmes age 43 born Thwing with a 5 year old son George age 5 born Hull. However, he is with wife Elizabeth H, 37 and children Thos H, 10, Charles 9, Ann Eliz 8 and Robert 2.

This is the closest - can only see one Thomas Holmes born ca 1868 Hull - actually born Sutton, Hull and living Sutton with father James, 63 and siblings Ellen 28, Arthur 24, Alice M 22, Rose A 18. Thomas is shown as single

Hi Indychick,

Thanks for trying, I'm not quite sure where I'm going with this family, I'm waiting for a marriage cert at the moment because I think Florence is Thomas' 2nd wife and I'm beginning to wonder about George's age, I know he died in December 1968 supposedly aged 72 but it wouldn't be the first time that the age at death has been given wrongly.

thanks again
