Sculcoates Birth Record HELP. Thanks.
« on: Friday 18 January 13 17:04 GMT (UK) »
I am Brian from the states, trying to research my Ancestors and family in England.  I am looking here in Yorkshire for information on my gg grandmother Annie B. Clark(e)'s mother and her mother's family Amelia Ann "Annie" Sherwood and her folks.

Although on most Census records Annie and other Sherwoods gave "Hull, Yorkshire" as place of birth, it was NOT always consistent, therefore when I search at BMD site I got this record which seems to be closest match.  How would one go about getting this actual record or a copy of it at least?  Would love to see if the parents of Amelia Ann Sherwood are who I suspect they may be.

this is the info. I have on the records location:

Amelia Ann Sherwood

Oct-Nov-Dec 1842
Sculcoates
Volume:22
Page:491

Any help or information or contact with others researching this family would very much be appreciated!

cheers,
Brian

Do you believe her parents to be Richard and Sarah?

Did she marry Frederick Clark in 1865

Ignore next bit - different Fred & Amelia

Edit - Frederick & Amelia in Stepney in 1871 - Amelia shown as b Malta

If it helps - I was born in Sculcoates, which is definitely a part of the city of Hull (full name Kingston Upon Hull)
.
Here's a description of the parish of Sculcoates some twenty years before your ancestor was born. http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/YKS/ERY/Sculcoates/index.html

THANK YOU all (Ya'll)  for your help and valuable info.!

She INDEED married Fred Clark(e), their eldest child, daughter was born in London (i have her record) Annie B. Clark(e) my gg grandmother.

And YES, I do believe that Richard and Sarah (possibly Wray) were her parents!

It's great to also finally know that "Sculcoates" is actually part of or in Hull. wow.  I love learning new things.  :)

cheers

This is what I found at FreeBMD site for possible marriage record(s) for Richard Sherwood, but what I find strange is that none of these are in the same "Volume"  yet are in same district of HULL and same Year Jun 1841 (which is right time) and all on same Page.  I may not be correct on how records are kept and which if all (possible marriage to both women due to death?) or maybe more than one Richard Sherwood at that time in Hull?

One reason I believe maybe Richard was married at a "Wray/Ray" is that when Annie went to live in America on family she lived with was Henry Vincent and his wife Anna Wray.

Marriage June 1841

Wray, Sarah,  District: Hull,  Vol. 20  Page 266

Sherwood, Richard, District: Hull, Vol 22, Page 266

Smith, Sarah,  District: Hull, Vol. 25, Page 266
