I am not usually inclined to disagree with Jim --- but the photo of the two little boys reminds me very much of one i have of my Gramps & his brother taken 1886.  I will look it out & post it for comparison --- back soon.

Me neither. The boy would be wearing boots, not white socks and mary jane shoes which didn't come into style (for girls anyway) until I think 1910. In fact I don't think I've ever seen these shoes on a boy...they may have been his sister's

The toning of the photo doesn't look like 1880s either. What kind of paper is it printed on, twilight? Could we see all of it uncropped please?

Goodness me - that's thrown a spanner in the works.  Perhaps the boys aren't who Twilight thinks they are - and I must say even in my humble view Twilight's picture doesn't look 1880's.

However, maybe Alison can now think of another generation of relatives her two boys represent?
