Completed:How do you trace a Nun?

Hi Rootschatters,
Does anyone have any information about tracing a Nun? I have recently discovered that one of my partners family was a Nun. She was born in about 1848 (exact brith still to be found) in the Highgate, London area and I've tracked her on Census data until 1871 - she then "disapears". She definately became a nun as we have some photos of her. As we have photos, she coudn't, I think, be part of a closed order.
Were Nuns subject to the census?
Is there any way of finding out what her name became when she took holy orders?
Any thoughts or help would be gratefully received.

Everybody was included in the Census. Was she a Catholic Nun?
INDEX OF NUNS
This is an index of approximately 14,000 nuns who were in the English Province of their Order. It is arranged alphabetically by the surname of each nun and usually gives date of birth, names of parents, religious name, dates of profession, date and place of death and name of Order, there is no charge for this.

If you go to the 1881 Census on Ancestry and just put "Nun" for occupation, you will get 1243 'hits'

I've had a look at this website, does someone have the index and could look up the name Money. the two or three ladies were probably based in Manchester and became nuns about 1920 at the earliest.

Do you know does it cover any nuns born in Co Derry who left and went to America?

I am trying to find my great aunt but all I hit is brick walls as l don't know what order she joined.

As of today, I'm having the same problem.    I'm looking for one in Cork, though, and the CFHS does not appear to cover Ireland.      I've tried the same method of putting in 'nun' in the search engine for the 1901 and 1911 censuses but got nothing.    Can anyone suggest anything else that I might try?
