Name in will of 1820.

In the wil i am transcribing i have come across female name which seems obviously to me to be Phille, as the christian name, and howse as the surname,  but can no such names in other relevant lists, eg. births, marriages and deaths etc.

Can anyone help

Hi Andy,

Wow! You've certainly paid attention to the copyright rules.  :)

With nothing else to go on, I would tend to agree with you,
particularly in the first case, although the second one could
be all sorts of things, e.g. 'Horner'.

If you are able to display a little more, perhaps the entire
line in each case, and maybe the line above and below each,
then seeing the words in context might help.

A John Howse and wife Phillis baptised several children
from 1801 onwards at St Andrew, Pershore, WOR.

Found at familysearch.org, searching for John How*
using search by batch number P012441.

Maybe Phille was her parent's pet name for her.  :)

Thanks, that really is a great help to have such a definite provenance for the name.

I put transcribed wills on my local history website and do my best to be accurate and so leave out any words of which I am unsure, but this does not look good to the interested reader.
