Andrew Young, my grandfather born 31 January 1892 at 20 Harmony Row.  Father Andrew Young mother Janet (possibly Johnston) married 31 December 1888.

I am looking for siblings and or further information.  All I have from that time is a birth certificate.

Many thanks
Angie

Hi Angie

Welcome to RootsChat  :)

Your post is tagged on an old thread connected to the Rae family. With your Young family, I wonder if this is the family in 1891 and 1901:

1891:

Andrew Young 34 engine fitter  b. Paisley, Renfrewshire
Janet Young 27 b. Paisley, Renfrewshire
Catherine Young 1 1/2 yrs b. Govan

Address: 46 Harmony Row, Govan

1901:

Janet M Young 38 b. Renfrew, Renfrewshire
Catherine Young 11
Andrew Young 9
Alexr Young 7
James Young 6
Agnes H Young 5
David M Elder 17 boarder
Louisa S Mcgregor 28

Address: 40 John St, Govan

The transcript doesn't show marital status so I don't know whether father Andrew is away from home or has died between the censuses. Scotlands People is the place to check the original census and also a possible death for Andrew Snr.

There is a marriage entry in Govan in 1889 for a Andrew Young and a Janet MCEWAN (ref
646/2 15). With the marriage being on 31/12, not surprising that the registration took place in 1889.

The details on the marriage cert for parents will let you work back to their families too. The image for this will be available too on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

Thank you so very much.  This is my family, the father died before 1901.  The Andrew that is 9 in 1901 is my grandfather born in 1892.  Angie

John Patrick's birth certificate states his parents Philip and Catherine married 16/10/1901 Newtownbutler, Fermanagh, Ireland so in 1901 census not yet married and still in Ireland.

Thank you, as I could not find them anywhere on the Irish 1901 census I thought maybe they were in Scotland when the census was taken in March, I did find a Philip Wray as a lodger working on a ship in 1901 birth date out by 4 years but no details of Catherine just don’t want to claim him as my grandfather without researching how and where he fits in. I also found a Philip Rea as a tenant occupier at 87 Russell Place Dalziel on the valuation roll 1905 that was the address his daughter was born in 1904. I am trying to sort out if Wray and Rea could be connected, just don’t want to use information because it looks good I really would like to feel more certain before I add details to my tree.
