1831 Census High Hill Ferry, Hackney: LANGSTON/LANGSDON/LANGSDEN
« on: Monday 14 January 13 22:20 GMT (UK) »
I understand that in the 1831 census Hackney recorded names, occupations, and other household members. If anyone has access to this census for High Hill Ferry, I would appreciate a look up of John and Esther Langston/Langsdon/Langsden and the offspring, please, including all information about them that is included in the census.

With thanks in advance.
Regards

Do you mean  1841 census ? ,  as there's  no 1831 census on line

I do mean 1831 census. It may not be online but it exists, Mostly in was just enumeration but I understand Hackney didn't follow instructions and actually recorded names, occupations and household members. There were also other census records taken prior to 1831 (1801, 1811, 1821 I think but without names).

According to this you will find them at the Hackney Archives

http://www.hackney.gov.uk/c-archives-comprehensive-page4.htm

(There may also be copies at the National Archives if you search their site)
James Stott c1775-1850. James was born in Yorkshire but where? He was a stonemason and married Elizabeth Archer (nee Nicholson) in 1794 at Ripon. They lived thereafter in Masham. If anyone has any suggestions or leads as to his birthplace I would be interested to know. I have searched for it for years without success. Thank you.

You used to be able to buy the 1831 Hackney on disc from East of London FHS, should still sell it.

Thanks to those who have provided information re the 1831 census of Hackney. If anyone has the CD or any copy of the census, I would appreciate a lookup of the names requested for High Hill Ferry. If no one has easy access to the information then I will have to approach Hackney Archives and/or EoLFHS.

Hi, I have the Disc and it is not set out in street order like other census, it is alphabetical name order.

I have looked under the names you have asked for but they are not listed.
