Exactly what information did you give when requesting the birth certificate?

(Moynalty is in Kells registration district as far as I know).
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

I completed the form with all the information I had - baptism date, birthdate (+/- a few years), parish, parent's names, associated townland - essentially everything I know about her.

The only think I can think of is that my great grandma, Mary McMahon, wasn't born in Moynalty, Meath, merely baptized there? Perhaps she was born in Dublin, as were a few of her 19 siblings? Also, her baptism records show her name as MacMahon, while her dad, Laurence, used Mahon before switching to McMahon around 1900.

I know they lived at Carrigagh in Moynalty (later Trohanny), Meath since I commissioned a general report on my family several months ago that stated such. Her parents, Laurence and Bridget Dolan, were born to men named James, and they grew up next to each other at Carrigagh. Laurence lied about his birthdate when marrying Bridget, listing his birthdate as 1845, when he was actually born around 1830.

It doesn't surprise me that I can't find their records, as my grandmother's  records are also missing (she was born Kathleen Lynch in 13 Mar 1907). It's very frustrating.
MacMahon/McMahon, Lynch, Reilly, Carolan, and Dolan families of Carrigagh, Moynalty, Meath, Ireland; Lynch family of Corragloon, Mullagh/Virginia, Cavan; Mulvany, Fitzsimons and Lynch of Edenburt and Whitegate, Kells, Meath.

I believe we may be related as my paternal grandmother, Julia Lynch, was born to Patrick Lynch and Julia Mc Mahon in September 1902.
Baptism was at the Church of Immaculate Conception in Cross Mullagh and sponsored by Joseph Mc Mahon and Brigid Mc Mahon.

Should add that I have a 1935 letter from Mary to daughter Julia (my grandmother) That mentions Patrick would be turning 70 on Xmas day of that year. i would guess that he was born Dec. 25 1865.
Also the letter refers to "B" being in Dublin and unwilling to leave a boyfriend to return home to Coragloon.

Thanks so much for this!

I notice that Julia's birth certificate lists a Sept. 28th birth.
Her baptismal certificate claims a Sept. 27th birth with the baptism the same day.
Are such discrepancies common?

Curiously, i do not see a Brigid listed in the family census. My sister does remember talk of an "Aunt" Brigid. We both have met "Laurence" and "Kathleen".

Maybe the OP can respond.

Might this be Bridget in the 1911 census?

Always a possibility but the OP had specified that Brigid was born to Patrick Lynch of Coragloon and Mary McMahon. I am certain they are my great grandparents. I guess its possible that Brigid was born after the 1911 census which would explain why she was not represented.
