GAILEY families in Ahoghill
« on: Saturday 12 January 13 11:54 GMT (UK) »
Hi I am researching GAILEY families in ahoghill
I have a William Gailey marriage to Mary Clarke on 14 May 1857.
I think William Gailey is the brother of James Gailey and the brother of Rose Anne Gailey who married James Tip pen in Ahoghill 2nd Presbyterian on 11 sept 1858.
I am looking to confirm if William Gailey an Rose Ann were in fact related and what happened to them  especially rose ann Gailey who I think is my maternal great grand mother.
Thanks if anyone can help
Colin

Hi,
William and Rose Ann may be related but they are not siblings. Williams' father was also William but Rose Ann's father was James.

Hi looks like William gailey who married Anne brown may be related rose Ann gailey if the father in both cases was a James gailey.

The Rose Ann Gailey  marriage in 1858 was witnessed by a William Gailey and a Matilda Gailey who I assume were related.
Does anyone have a list of the various Gailey families in Ahogill and how they are related.

Thanks if anyone can help

Colin

As James Tippen and Rose Ann Gailey seem to have moved to Scotland and had several children in both the New Monkland and Rutherglen areas, and indeed are living in Old Monkland area with their children at 1881 Census, perhaps Scottish records would help you discover what became of Rose Ann.

Thanks scotmum

I have found them in scotland but have had great difficulty tracing back to ireland.

They may have changed name in scotland due to spelling issues from Tippen to tipping and Gailey,
I have seen spelt several ways gailly or gallie or gally

I am working back from a robert tipping born about1874 in scotland died 1925.
Father James Tipping Mother Rose Ann Gailey (Ms probably pritchard) from a death cert in motherwell 1915 father of rose was wiliiam gailey.Rose ann Gailey was born in ireland as was james tippen/tipping

any info welcome

Thanks

Your earlier comment as to 'what became' of Rose Ann led me to think you were seeking her after her marriage to James Tippen.

Ok, so was it Rose Ann who died in 1915? If yes, why do you say her maiden surname was 'probably Pritchard'? If her father was William Gailey and she married James Tippen as Rose Ann Gailey.....then Pritchard has me confused.

Your right i have confused things

Rose ann tipping died  aged 74 in 1915 ms gailey her mother was rose ann gailey  ms pritchard father stated as Willam Gailey.

The only marriage I can find is a James Tippen and Rose ann Gailey in ahoghill 1858

sorry if this is confusing
