born Aug 1913 ( i think near Glasgow), died mar 1970 in canada, married Janet Allan Duffy in Scotland, emigrated to Canada in 1952/3. can't find his ancestors - parents or grandparents

The way to solve this problem is get hold of his marriage certificate via ScotlandsPeople. It will give the names of his parents, his occupation and address. That would allow you to find his birth certificate and his parents' marriage certificate etc.

The Gibson-Craig family were from Riccarton, Currie near Edinburgh and owned the estate of Riccarton which is now Heriot-Watt University.
