my ggg grandfather james silver was the head of a family that owned a pub in loughrea as late as 1911. dont know when it went out of the family, would liek to find that out. in the 1870 directory of loughrea he is listed as a publican.

would also like to find out his fathers name... he married bridget connor/s (1837-1918).

His marriage certificate should list father's name and occupation. The 1911 census asked married women who many years married. Also, working around date of birth for eldest child will narrow down the date.
The civil registration index is online at www.familysearch.org and several of the children are also listed there.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Thom's 1930 lists a Mary Anne Silvers, vintner with an address at West Bridge, Loughrea.

In 1938 there's an Elizabeth Silvers, vintner at West Bridge.

would you have a link to the 1930 directory or the 1938 reference?

do you know if the pub continues in the silver name or passes to another?
