Hi and welcome to Rootschat

What kind of info are you looking for?  If you are looking for details of previous occupants that would mean searching electoral rolls/census entries from whenever it was built.

Censuses were taken every 10yrs but there is only one website which allows all censuses to be searched by address and it is pay per view.  You would need to buy credits

www.FindMyPast.com

It's Terms & Conditions prohibit publication of info from the site

You can look at electoral registers for most periods at your nearest records office

Gilsbrook is shown on the 1894 map at http://www.old-maps.co.uk/maps.html?coords=363438,413552
In the 1881 census Gilsbrook was occupied by Richard Shaw, a retired Draper, there is no entry for a Gilsbrook Cottage. In the 1881 Census   Rivington is RG 11/4217 (National Archives Catalogue)

Hi

The date it was built should be in the deeds but if not - the Land Registry should be able to give you that info for a small fee.

In the 1841 Census it is just called Gills, occupied by Isaac Bain, a Farmer & Weaver. It is also called Gills on the 1st Edition of the 6 inch O.S. Map.

I have just found a question about Gills Farm at http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,424469.0.html

I am not sure if you are still available to answer, or interested in Gilsbrook Cottage, Lancashire, bit I would be interested in having a photo of it because my Father was born there in May 1907. Nan
