You can modify your posts for 24 hours. This should be long enough to notice any typos and correct them.
After that you do as Lizzie says, but:
I suppose the thing to do is write one more reply telling people you are completing the topic and then lock it
Reply on the topic to thank everybody, adding *completed* to the title of this reply, but we advise against locking it.
"Completed" is a relative term. If you are absolutely sure that it is completed (definitions, technical queries, etc) then it won't hurt to lock it, but
requests about people are never really 'completed' ....
1) new material is constantly being published on the internet, and someone may be able to add something later.
2) days, months or even years later, someone may find your topic in a search engine and also be interested in these names, and join RootsChat, just so they can reply on the topic.
